Relja Ferusic Manusev, born in Sarajevo (BIH) in 1980 and established in Barcelona since 1993, graduates in Architecture in 2005 by the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB / UPC) His Master Thesis ‘T.R.A.S.H., Well Being Center at Adelboden, Switzerland’, achieved Grade A and was Selected for the exhibition of Master Thesis of 2005, by ETSAB and published by Edicions UPC. It was also Selected by Sarajevo Architectural Association for the annual exhibition of the best idea projects.
During the university studies, he took part in the workshop POLE EUROPE (Project Oriented Learning Environment), as an architect in the international and multidisciplinary team in collaboration with University of Applied Sciences Aargau FHA, Northwestern Switzerland.
In the academic field, he has worked as as an Assistant Professor of Architectural Projects IX, X and Diploma Projects at the Escola Superior de Arquitectura (ESARQ / UIC), in Barcelona during the course 2007-2008. Previously he has also worked as an Assistant Professor
of Architectural Design between 2005 and 2007 at the D-ARCH / ETH of Zurich, Switzerland, on the chair of Mamen Domingo, the Visiting Professor of Architectural Design.
In 2008, he founded in Barcelona, the studio SALA FERUSIC together with his colleague Carles Sala, where is currently developing his professional activity, pointing up several national and international projects, some of which have been acknowledged with various prizes and mentions. The work of ‘La Gravera’ winery, located in Alfarràs, Lleida, has recently obtained the First Prize at the ‘3M 2010’ Awards by the Association of Architects of Catalonia, ‘COAC’, and has been selected at the ‘Collegium Artisticum 2010’ Awards, held by the Association of Architects of Sarajevo, ‘ASAS’. Some other outstanding projects have been acknowledged, such as the Square El Repartidor in l’Hospitalet, Barcelona, which got the Second Prize in an open competition, and the Memorial Museum in Srebrenica, BIH, which obtained a Honourable Mention in an open international competition, and was exhibited in the Bosnian Cultural Center of Sarajevo.
Some previous international projects have to be emphasized, as the ‘Student Housing in Dubrovnik’, Croatia, which acquired a Special Mention in an open international competition in 2009 and was exhibited at the University of Dubrovnik, the ‘Academy for Scenic Arts’ in Sarajevo, BIH, which resulted in The Finalist Project in an open international competition in 2008, and the ‘Bridge of The Art Academy’ in Sarajevo, which won the Third Prize in an open competition in 2007, and was exhibited at the Collegium Artisticum of Sarajevo, held by Association of Architects of Sarajevo, ‘ASAS’.
Nowadays, he combines his professional activity in the studio SALA FERUSIC and his activity as a Member of the Commission for Information Technologies (IT) at the ETSAB / UPC.
